I know some cars have a 30/70 weight distribution, but can you think one worse?

J-swapped Civic hatches, probably.
Not that the owners of these things care about anything involving turning.

I’ve heard various numbers on air-cooled beetles, the worst of which is 25/75.

Is that supercharged? I hope it’s got a limited slip or is boost by gear or else it looks like it’ll torque steer into a crowd faster than a mustang.

Yep. If it’s manual, it may have an LSD. Not really sure about the exact specs of the build, though.

I bet is does wicked snow-nuts though!

I thought maybe the Toronado but it was 60/40.

Oh god that’s awful.

Jesus Christ that is absolutely horrid!

99/1
BTW you win everything ever.

Apparently they put France in front.

Assuming it’s true; yes. Yes it is.

30/70 can be good for a dragster, or a DeltaWing.

An Eldorado should be similar if not worse.

drop throttle oversteer occurs at approximately 12mph

The 1998 Cadillac Seville was something like 63% front.

60/40 isn’t too uncommon among ordinary front-wheel-drive sedans - I seem to recall the Lexus HS 250h (anyone remember that? anyone?) had a similar ratio, but I’m not sure where the hybrid batteries were in that case.

I don’t think the beetle could have been as bad as the Renault 4cv though, given the 4cv’s water cooled inline 4, vs. the beetle’s air cooled flat four.

It’s actually pretty close to ideal, for front wheel drive. You need to be able to maintain traction up hills, with a loaded trunk, etc. That’s one of the reasons so many early front drivers would throw the spare wheel in the engine bay.

Against the back seats, between the rear shock towers:
That’s a fairly typical location for hybrid batteries.

Yes, I can understand that. But a higher % in the front on RWD cars?
![]() 03/23/2017 at 06:13 |

And it may be one of the most bland cars ever.
![]() 03/23/2017 at 06:15 |

Yeah, gotta have that RWD grip. And that turning radius of Jupiter.

Every empty pickup truck. Especially with a plow on front.

Van owner’s don’t get money. They get deliveries.
![]() 03/23/2017 at 08:32 |

Do you have one? I don’t want to offend people.
![]() 03/23/2017 at 08:32 |

If you brake too hard, will it fall over on it’s nose?
![]() 03/23/2017 at 08:40 |

Alright. When does my Stratos get delivered then?
![]() 03/23/2017 at 09:34 |

It certainly looks like it, unless you put a lot of weight in the truck bed. It reminds me of my sister’s bulldog when he was a puppy. His head was so massive that he had a heavy front end bias. When he ran, I always thought that he’d tip forward if he tried to stop too fast.
![]() 03/23/2017 at 09:40 |

But whatever that thing is, I want one. Really bad.

It’s on the way (to the repair shop)!

Here’s the listing.

Also, I think Regular Car Reviews did a review of the van version.

That’ll be fine. I’ll pick it up there.

DeltaWing made some tight turns, and
its specs showed a super rearward weight distribution
:
Front/Rear Weight Distribution: 27% / 73%
(Note: I’m not implying the DeltaWing is a great car (it’s not), just the funky weight distribution still worked in a car that goes around corners.)
![]() 03/23/2017 at 13:00 |
|
Oh god. How did they make it that bad?
![]() 03/23/2017 at 13:01 |
|
How are you going to get it home?
![]() 03/23/2017 at 13:02 |
|
It’ll hopefully run when it’s done.
![]() 03/23/2017 at 13:04 |

$7,295???? I think I may have found the greatest car ever made.
![]() 03/23/2017 at 13:06 |
|
It’s not “bad” if the car is designed around such a weight distribution, that’s the fun part of vehicle dynamics.
![]() 03/23/2017 at 13:14 |
|
It’s a Stratos. Of course it won’t run. Unless you drive it offroad then it will run forever.
![]() 03/23/2017 at 13:34 |

It’s a mini van based pickup that’s 27 years old. It’s not particularly fast or safe. If that’s your idea of the greatest car ever made, you should probably buy it.
![]() 03/23/2017 at 17:26 |

Isn’t it the coolest thing ever? I don’t care that it’s not fast and very obviously not safe, it’s a 1990's Luv truck!
